Dal Dhokli: This is a Classical Dish in Every Home

The Cleaning Process of Dal Dhokli:

Clean wash ahrar dal and soak it in water for 1/2 or 1 hour. Put lentils and two cups of water in the cooker add one teaspoon salt and let it cook till one whistle, cook for two or three more minutes on low flame. Turn off the gas and leave the Dal in the cooker until the pressure in the cooker subsides.

The Texture of Masalas and the Dough in Dal Dhokli:

What you have to do to make it is to take gram flour in a bowl and add one teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of ghee, and one teaspoon of carom seeds and mix it well. Take it. Remember to keep adding a little water with it so that the dal does not stick to the bottom. Talking about the dough, mix the dough well and keep it covered with a clean cloth for about 10 to 15 minutes. The dough should be ready when you see it later.

Ingredients For Dal Dhokli Recipe:

Arhar Dal 1/2 cup 

Wheat flour 1/2 cup

Gram flour 2 teaspoon

Tomato 1 

Ghee 2/3 teaspoon

Asafetida 1 pinch

Cumin 1/2 teaspoon

Red Chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon

Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

Coriander 1/4 teaspoon

Dry red chilli 1

Green Chili 1

Curry Leaves 7/8 

Green coriander 1 tablespoon

Salt 1.5 teaspoon or as per your taste

Ajwain less than 1/4 teaspoon

The Dough of Bread:

Apply some ghee on your hands and knead the dough to make it smooth. The door for making dhokli is ready. Make a round ball from the dough. Roll the door on the dry floor place it on a rolling pin and prepare a big bread. No cut it into some inch strips make it smaller and cut it into four parts.

Preparing the Tadka onto Dal Dhokli:

Put ghee in the pan and heat it add cumin and asafoetida in the hot ghee. After the coming seeds crackle add turmeric powder, curry leaves, whole Red Chillies, chopped green chillies, and coriander powder, and fry the spices for a while. After this add chopped tomatoes let the tomatoes cook now add red chilli powder to it and fry until the ghee separates from the spices.

The Tradition of Dal Dhokli and Roti (Bread):

I make Dal Dhokli recipes in different ways every day with left lower dal and roti. I make this recipe with whatever is left at home and not in the traditional way. Whereas in this recipe I have added roti to boiling Dal Curry in Gujarati style. I have also prepared the all-in Gujarati style just for this recipe.
